Seniors

At Little Trinity we have a vibrant older population and much of our ministry and service is done by our seniors.

Ministries:

Our 55+ Coffee Gathering is one of the important parts of our life in Christian community. Meetings are usually held in person approximately twice a month on Wednesdays from 10:30am to 12:00 noon, but currently we are meeting on Zoom and in person. Links and current information are sent out on the Grapevine emails. For more information, please contact Philip Wood or Ed Vandenberg.

We also have a Support Group for Adult Children of Aging Parents that meets once a month, usually via Zoom. Please contact James Beck if you would like to know more about this ministry.

Resources & Links:

There are many resources available to support our aging population. There are government resources at all levels of government. The City of Toronto has a large number of resources available, ranging from legal and financial, to physical and mental health resources: Toronto Seniors Services. The Province of Ontario has a similar list of available resources: Ontario Seniors Services. The Federal Government resources have a greater focus on financial matters, with links for the Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security and other similar links: Canada Seniors Services.

There are a number of practical issues that arise as people age, one of which is around a lifetime of accumulated things. This document provides very helpful advice around the necessary process of decluttering – Decluttering.

While spiritual health is important at any age, the challenges, opportunities and urgency seem to intensify as we get older. At Little Trinity we have a robust range of caring ministries for our elderly, ranging from regular visits and contact by trained members of our community, to home and hospital communion visits by members of our pastoral staff. If you would like to know more please contact James Beck.
